Ever wonder where the predominant color of the season comes from? While inspiration hails from the runway for sure, color setting trends also emerge from Pantone’s “Color of the Year” and this year Pantone selected “Radiant Orchid”, a lovely warm purple with pink undertones. Since you’ll be seeing tones of Radiant Orchid everywhere, here are some product picks to help you incorporate this hue into your beauty repertoire.
Last year Marc Jacobs introduced a fabulous new nail polish line and his “Oui Magenta” hue is a top choice for showing off the deep pink version of Radiant Orchid. Though at about $18 per polish, this pick is a bit of an indulgence or a good gift choice.
While I do recommend trying the Marc Jacobs Oui Magenta when you can, at under $4 a bottle, a beautiful and budget friendly alternative is Metallic Fuschia by Kleancolor.
Oh Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour, how I love you so. I wear the hue shown above, Lavender Shimmer, all the time and LOVE it. It’s a romantic look that really pops with a navy winged liner layered on top and a hint of silver or gold in your inner corners. It also happens to be a spot on shade for the plum tone of Radiant Orchid. Because of the consistency, there is no such thing as creasing with this lovely shadow. Like the Marc Jacobs nail color, this is also slightly spendy at around $26 (though SO worth it). Not to worry though. See below for a lower cost alternative.
Thank goodness for Covergirl Bombshell ShineShadow. At around $6 a piece, you can layer the “Ooh La Lilac” shade over “Platinum Club” to achieve a look similar to the Laura Mercier Lavender Shimmer, for about half the price. Available at Amazon.
Do you wear any of colors listed above? What’s your favorite Radiant Orchid beauty pick? Comments are always appreciated.
